Microsoft Teams

The Wabot app for Microsoft Teams posts new WhatsApp messages from your Wabot account into a Teams chat or channel as cards. You can reply from the card, start new conversations with approved templates, and open your full Wabot inbox in a tab.

You need:

  • A Wabot account with a WhatsApp Business number connected. The Teams app shows messages for numbers that are already connected in Wabot; it cannot connect a number itself. New to Wabot? Start a free trial.
  • A Wabot plan that includes the Microsoft Teams integration. If you don’t see Microsoft Teams under Settings → Integrations, contact us (see Support).
  • A Microsoft 365 account that can install apps in Teams.

Step 1: Connect a WhatsApp number in Wabot

Section titled “Step 1: Connect a WhatsApp number in Wabot”

Skip this step if Settings → Meta Platforms → WhatsApp already lists your number.

  1. Sign in at app.wabot.shop.
  2. Go to Settings → Meta Platforms → WhatsApp and click Connect Whatsapp Business.
  3. Follow Meta’s sign-up to choose your business and verify the number. See Connect WhatsApp for each screen.
  4. When it finishes, the number is shown on that page as connected.
  1. In Microsoft Teams, open Apps, search for Wabot and click Add.
  2. Teams opens a personal chat with the Wabot bot, and the bot sends a welcome card.

Linking uses a one-time pairing code. You never type your Wabot password into Teams.

  1. In Wabot, go to Settings → Integrations, open Microsoft Teams and click Generate pairing code. Wabot shows a code like WB-ABCD-1234. Each code works once, for 10 minutes.
  2. In the Teams chat with Wabot, type link WB-ABCD-1234 (your code).
  3. The bot replies Linked as your name on your account and lists your WhatsApp numbers.

The link is now also listed under Settings → Integrations → Microsoft Teams in Wabot.

Step 4: Choose where WhatsApp messages appear

Section titled “Step 4: Choose where WhatsApp messages appear”

Type connect in the conversation where you want new WhatsApp messages:

  • Personal chat: type connect in your chat with Wabot.
  • Channel or group chat: add the Wabot app to the team or chat, then type @Wabot connect. Only Wabot admins can connect a shared conversation.

If you have several numbers, connect <number> posts messages for that number only.

  1. From any phone, send a WhatsApp message to your connected number.
  2. Within a few seconds a card with the message appears in the conversation you connected.
  3. Type a reply in the card and click Send. The reply arrives on WhatsApp from your business number.

If the customer’s 24-hour customer service window has closed, the card offers Choose a template instead. WhatsApp only allows approved templates outside that window.

Type send (or click New WhatsApp message on a card), search for a contact or type a full number with country code, choose an approved template, fill in its variables and send.

Open the Wabot app and pick the WhatsApp Inbox tab to use your full Wabot inbox. The tab also works when you open the Wabot app in Outlook or the Microsoft 365 app. The first time, you may be asked to sign in with your Microsoft account. That sign-in only confirms who you are.
